Ford Motor Company once ran
a TV commercial that said, "If you haven't looked
at Ford lately, LOOK AGAIN." I couldn't help thinking
to myself how relevant this suggestion is. Not so much to
look again at Ford, but to take a second look at your business.
When's the last time you took the
pulse of your business? Are you making money or are you just
struggling to keep things afloat? How many new customers did
you gain last year? What kind of improvements have you made
... to your operations, your website, your marketing efforts?
We've all heard the old saying,
"If it's not broke, don't fix it." And sometimes,
that's good advice. But you have to be careful when it comes
to your business. Often we're so close we can't see the cracks,
the tears, the unravelling around the edges. We just merrily
skip along, thinking everything is hunky-dory when, in fact,
what we're doing has become stale and out-dated.
A good place to start is your marketing
strategies. Are you doing anything new to get the word out
about who you are and what you do? When was the last time
you updated your website? Are you still handing out that plain
business card you had made at the corner print shop? Do you
even have a business card?
Are you always on the lookout for
new opportunities to reach prospective customers? Have you
considered writing an Ebook to expand your market? Have you
checked on your competition lately to see what they're doing?
It's so easy to loll around in
our 'comfort zone.' But it takes energy ... and time ... and
sometimes money ... to keep a business fresh ... to keep it moving forward ... to make it a SUCCESS! (If
in doubt, consider Ken Evoy. His business has grown by leaps
and bounds since his first Ebook, Make
Your Site Sell. Would it have happened had he waited
for the world to come to him? Doubtful.)
I strongly suggest you STOP right
now. Take a look. Is your business where you want it to be?
If not, perhaps it's time to LOOK AGAIN.
