What's your motivational quotient?
If you're like most entrepreneurs, it's high when the future
looks promising and things are going your way. But when the
challenges of inadequate cash flow, shaky customer relationships,
lack of time, or unexpected problems, motivation can
plummet ... fast!
It's been suggested that to keep
your motivation strong, you need to regularly remind yourself
that you are an expert with specific abilities and experience.
As you recognize and apply your expertise, you will experience
excitement in what you do and what you hope to accomplish
in the future. Excitement in your work is what keeps you motivated.
If you notice you've been experiencing
feelings of boredom and indifference, it's possible you're
accepting work that doesn't bring true satisfaction or a sense
of accomplishment. This can lead to a lack of self-esteem
and self-worth which, in turn, affects the operation of your
business.
A good way to discover what truly
excites you is to consider your best customers. These are
the ones that reutrn to you again and again, plus send you
referrals. Look closely at what you're doing for them. Most
likely, you're using the skills that gratify you and bring
inner satisfaction ... and keep you motivated.
True motivation comes from within.
Only you can find the source of enthusiasm that will keep
you on track and ensure your growth as a self-employed person.
